Bloom Northeast US
The Northeast US is far along in creating the infrastructures for a regional food system. Farms in this region from New York to Maine are mostly small ones, and many are practicing regenerative and organic farming. A coalition called Northeast Healthy Soil Network, along with several more coalitions, are organizing together to bring together conservation districts, scientists, academics, farmers, policy workers and food eaters (that’s surely you!), to collaborate on making it economically viable for a regional food system to provide food security and stable livelihoods for people. Payment for ecosystem services is one area they’re working on, such as state-level policy to subsidize farming methods that create healthy soils and waterways.
